With today's high-powered AMD CPUs, having a great cooler is essential. However, a lot of people seem to think that "great cooler" means spending $35+ for Thermalright's highly acclaimed SLK-800 monster. While this will give you stellar temps, not everyone is up for spending that kind of money to cool a CPU.
Enter the Thermalright SK-7. Much like its big brother the SLK-800, it's a thin fin, all copper cooler that supports 60mm and 80mm fans. The difference however is that the SK-7 costs about half as much; right now, SVC has it for only $15.99 (you have to add on a fan, but fans are pretty cheap, and most people have a few extra 80mm fans around anyway.). In fact, the only real differences between the two is that the SK-7 is slightly shorter and narrower.
Today we'll be comparing the SK-7 to another one of Thermalright's highly-acclaimed budget coolers, the AX-7. Both support 80mm fans, and we will be testing with several fans.
Let's crack open the box and see the SK-7.
