SilverStone 80mm LED Fan Review
Written by Justin B. | Date: 2.26.2004 | Manufacturer: SilverStone

LED fans have become all the rage lately, and people have been outfitting their cases with large varieties of blue, red, green, orange, etc fans. Today we'll be looking at a new LED fan by SilverStone, the same company that brought us high quality PC cases. This fan measures in at 80mm and contains 4 different color LEDs for maximum variety!

The SilverStone LED fan measures in at 80x25mm, which is a pretty standard size for a case fan, and will fit inside of most cases with ease. It's rated at 31cfm and only 21dba, which is extremely impressive! I have a couple of Panaflo L1A fans which have the same decibel rating but only push 24cfm of air. It also has a 3 pin connector for hookup to your motherboard (which it does hook up to safely), and includes 4 fan screws and rubber spacers to help quiet the fan by absorbing vibration.

The lights are placed in the 4 corners of the fan. I could not get a clear picture of the blades to show this off, but they do not have "tape" like some fans have-- which is a good thing, since over time, tape over a fan's blades can end up looking very messy.

Here is a shot of the fan all lit up inside my Beantech Igloo 10 testing case (review coming soon). The lights are blue, red, pink, and green, and while they are not excessively bright, they are not dull by any means-- I'd say a perfect medium. The camera did not capture the blue and green lights as well as they show up in real life.
