Logitech has been known to produce highly acclaimed keyboard/mouse combos. Today, we will be taking a look at Logitech's flagship cordless keyboard/mouse set, The Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3100.

The Cordless Desktop MX 3100 consists of the MX 3000 Keyboard, the MX 1000 Laser Mouse and the USB powered mouse dock. A PS/2 adapter is also included, which is a great touch, should you not have any open usb ports to use. The keyboard runs off two AA batteries (which are also included), while the mouse is internally powered and recharged via its dock. The set is very aesthetically pleasing and both keyboard and mouse feel slightly heavier than their generic brethren, which is a good indication of quality to me.

Setup was literally was easy as 1-2-3, which gets a big thumb's up for me. To setup up the MX 3100 Cordless Desktop, just plug in the usb mouse dock, turn the mouse on and put batteries in the keyboard. While the keyboard and mouse work without any software installed, most of its advanced features were not available, such as the multimedia keys. After installing the Logitech SetPoint software, everything became fully functional. Now for those out there who want to "cut to the chase", feel free to skip ahead to the conclusion.
