Samsung SyncMaster 215TW Review
Written by Kai Chin | Date: 10.06.2006 | Manufacturer: Samsung
Over the years, LCDs have come a long way. Prices have dropped to the level where everyone can afford one, and the technology has progressed to the point where any generic monitor of today would be considered a "high-end gaming LCD" of yesteryear. No longer being restricted by technological obstacles, LCD manufactures are now able to bring large screen displays to the masses without charging an arm and a leg. This brings us to Samsung's newest large screen offering, the SyncMaster 215TW.

From the specifications, this monitor clearly shines. With a 8ms response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio and .027mm dot pitch, image quality is guaranteed whether you are gaming, watching movies, editing pictures or just looking at them. In addition, the monitor sports an RCA, s-video, component and a set of speakers. This gives users the flexibility of using the monitor as a TV. And at 21 inches, it's big enough for it to work. With that said, let's take a look inside the box.

The Samsung SyncMaster 215TW comes pretty well stocked. The packaging is quite standard, but well designed. One thing I liked about the monitor was that the base and the monitor come as one unit. No further setup is required. Just take the monitor out, plug in the power and you are good to go. The stand allows for swivel, height adjustment and even rotation of the monitor into portrait mode, making it one of the best stands I've seen on a monitor. Included with the monitor, you also get the SyncMaster software disc, a DVI-D cable, and a VGA cable. However, I was disappointed that no audio cable was supplied, given that you need a special double-sided mini jack cable in order to have audio from the computer. With everything set up, its time to review it's performance.
