Upon turning the monitor on, the default settings were not so great. The color was a bit over saturated, and the brightness was at 100%. This made things a bit hard to look at, akin to staring into the sun. At night, the monitor effectively doubled as a light, which was nice, but not necessary. After manually tuning the monitor, everything looked much better. With color out of the way, it's time to look at how it stacks up in various applications.
Usually, day to day email checking, web browsing and word processing is nothing special, until that is, you do it on a 21 inch widescreen monitor. With so much real estate, you can easily have a browser open and type at the same time. For anyone that has to type a paper, this is a godsend. No more alt tabbing to make sure you didn't completely miss the point of an article in a journal. In addition, the monitor makes reading on a computer completely painless. With the large space, there's no need to print out any articles when you can display two pages at a time. In addition, rotation the desktop into portrait mode simplifies reading even further. At 21 inches, the SyncMaster 215TW makes multitasking easy and very manageable.

Next up is measuring picture quality. To test this, I displayed a wide variety of pictures to see how accurately the monitor reproduced the colors. I think these shots speak for themselves:

As you can see, the display quality is outstanding. The top picture is a close-up of a picture that I took of the Miami shoreline. It looks so good that it looks like as if I posted the actual picture itself. The sharpness of the display is further elaborated in a close up of the desktop. Even at this range, the text is sharp, and the icons are barely pixilated. Image quality is definitely a strong suit of the 215TW.
