Logitech never seems to stop innovating when it comes to product design. Today, we take a look at the VX Revolution, a brand new laptop mouse designed to "revolutionize" the way you work. With the new scrolling features that Logitech has designed, it touts flexibility and precision at the same time. Let's see how it holds up.
Out of the box, the mouse looks like a redesigned MX 1000, one of Logitech's best wireless mice to date. It has the same overall contour but is noticeably smaller than the MX 1000. From the look of it, the mouse is very streamlined. It has a nice zoom feature placed perfectly next to the left click, a scroller that supports horizontal scrolling and a nifty new search button. However, none of those beat the ergonomics of the VX Revolution.

Despite the small size of the mouse, it fits into your hand like a glove. Fingers align perfectly into the subtlety textured grooves on the buttons, with little strain on the wrist. One of the best new features that the Revolution series has is the rubberized thumb grip. Having worked with a MX 1000 Laser, I thought the design of the thumb contour was a vast improvement over generic mice, and it was. But now having rubberized that area, the mouse feels much more comfortable to the touch. The rubber gives the mouse a slight cushion to it, allowing it to conform better to each individual's hand.

Being a laptop mouse, the VX Revolution does not come with a dock or charger. It relies on a single AA battery, which lasts up to 120 days, according Logitech's SetPoint software. However, the best part of the mouse's design is how it stores the USB dongle. Prior to the VX Revolution, I have seen laptop mice have velcro attached to the bottom so that the USB dongle could be attached to it for storage. This is better than nothing, as we all know the feeling when you can't use your wireless devices because you misplaced the dongle. However, Logitech has done something genuinely innovative and elegant. Instead of velcro or some other adhesive material, the USB dongle simply rests within the mouse itself. In addition, when the dongle is in place, the mouse auto shuts itself down, conserving battery power. When the dongle is ejected, the mouse auto powers up. The design is so simple yet so tremendously useful. The designers at Logitech have really outdone themselves here.
